Installing Windows Fonts
STEP 1: Unzip Font Archive
Extract the font using either WinZip or WinRar. I generally extract them to a folder on my desktop so they are all in one place and I can delete the folder afterwards.
STEP 2: Install Font
Installing your font is as simple as dragging the file and dropping it into your font folder. It will install your font, and then you can delete the font from the folder on your desktop (or archive it somewhere).
You can reach your font folder by two paths:
START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, FONTS
Or from your desktop: My Computer, C: Drive, WINDOWS, FONTS
Converting fonts to Mac format
STEP 1: Converting the Font
First and foremost, let’s get one thing straight: TT-Convert converts between formats, not between font types. It will convert back and forth, from PC to Mac TrueType and from PC to Mac PostScript. But it cannot convert between TrueType and PostScript formats. If you don’t know what that means, then you shouldn’t worry about it. Just follow the rest of these directions and you should end up with a perfectly good Macintosh font file.
Now, with that said and done, you’re going to need to download and install TT-Converter. Once you’ve done that, run the program, and open the *.TTF file you want to convert within it. You can do this simply by dragging the *.TTF files onto the TT-Converter icon. A dialog box should appear. If the highlighted box (“Save Converted Font As”) doesn’t already have a name in it, type the font name that it was downloaded as. Then click Customize Font. Another dialog box should appear. Ignore most of it. Enter the name (same as above) into the Font Name box. Click OK in that dialog box and Save in the next dialog box (keep ignoring everything else). You should now have successfully converted a PC font for use on a Macintosh platform.
STEP 2: Installing the Font
Drag the font (inside the folder labeled with the “A” or out by itself) to the Font Folder inside your System Folder. This can also be accomplished by dragging the font to your System Folder and clicking OK in the dialog box that automatically comes up. NOTE: Do not create or put fonts into new, non-font folders inside the Font Folder. Only after you’ve loaded the font can you start the program you want to use it in. Sometimes newly added fonts do not show up in your font lists until you restart your Mac.
